HDH144 - Freakers Free For All

This week at Haunted Design House you are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece

that is basically stated, anything goes!
Easy enough, right? Let your freak flag fly! Try a new technique or
medium. This is the week to play along because not only are
all bets off, but we have a sponsor too!

We are sponsored this week by

Christy is a very talented artist. She has a very creepy cute side that appeals
to so many tastes. She also has a huge range of every day adorable images
as well. Drop by her shop and check 'em out!
Christy has generously offered up 2 free images of choice to each of the
chosen ones (Gruesome Twosome) from this week's challenge.

Well my latest thing is iron on transfers, love them.  Have all sorts of ideas for the girls.   I digitally put two tiddly inks images together and added bite me (vampire and attitude) then printed on transfer sheet.  I splattered some red cosmic shimmer to look like blood drips.

The girls have prepared some lush stuff for you to peruse so defo go check them out.

Who doesn't love the quirkiness that is Tiddly Inks!!!  Get your thinking cap on or not as it is a freakers free for all!  Easy peasy.

Papelito Stamps Challenge #4 - Tags

I was lucky enough to win a set of four angels from Papelito Stamps on their facebook page.  I have made a pretty simple tag (time is limited at the moment).

This little guy is too cute.  I think I went over the top with the glitter in fact I KNOW I did.  I shouldn't have stickled his face!

Anyway go check out the challenge blog some very cool dt pieces.

HDH143 - Movie Madness

This week at Haunted Design House we are to create a piece that takes it's inspiration from a favorite bit of celluloid.   All types of films can be twisted into a darker interpretationYou don't have to be a fan of scary or suggestive movies to play along.  Just keep in mind that we are going for creepy, scary, dark, gothic, or Halloweenie feel.

We are sponsored this week by Spesch Designer Stamps:

Tracey has some wonderful images by some really talented artists
available in her shop. She has a very diverse selection of images to choose from.
Spesch has generously offered up 3 free images of choice to each of the
chosen ones (Gruesome Twosome) from this week's challenge.

For my project I used the Oz Tin Man by Max.

The tin man couldn't wait for the old wizard of oz to give him a heart so he solved that problem himself!

I coloured him with promarkers and ranger posh metallic inks to give him a glimmer.  The moon is from porkchopsow on etsy.  I used a fiskars grass punch and printed out a heart and added ranger pearls (I know it looks like crud).

The girls have come up with some brilliant projects so pop on over to HDH to have a lookie.

I also have to apologise for my lack of commenting but I hope to get a chance to sit down this week and have a look at all the cool stuff I have missed out on.  Probably most of you are the same with the summer hols and having to entertain the kids 24/7 or have been there before.

Phil Hyne's Zombie Magnet.

I realised only just now that I posted about this on facebook but not on here.  I was extremely lucky enough to win a prize of a customised magnet sculpture of myself made in to a zombie from Holly's Horrorland which was made by the most talented Phil Hynes.

Pretty amazing, it takes pride of place with my brain magnets from Creepy Glowbugg on my fridge, in amongst pics of unicorn and hearts and rainbows that my daughter has drawn.

Anyway just thought I ought to post a pic in case anyone was interested you can get Phil to make customised pieces through either his website or the zombies and toys.  He does wedding toppers, busts, magnets etc.

HDH142 - Music Mayhem

Well for this challenge at haunted design house I had loads and loads of ideas but just not the gumption to do them.  The kids are draining me of any energy I would have had.

The ideas I had were mainly Smashing Pumpkins (my all time fave) We Only Come Out at Night, Lily, Bullet with Butterfly Wings.  Then there were countless Cure, Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy.  I was even going to do The National with Converstation 16 (I was afraid I would eat your brains).

I finally went with Ugly by the Smashing Pumpkins as this was my fave when I was younger.  I used a witch who is not very happy with the witchy things she has done.  I used a frame from the Graphics Fairy and made it in to a mirror then used a witch image and then added hair to make it look like she was facing the mirror.

I used the top font from 1001 free fonts Broken Toys.

My New Treasures

I got these delightful treasures last week but the weather here is just awful so every pic I tried to take didn't do them justice.  These ones are better but the box etc all look so much better in real life.

Creepy Glowbugg sent me these for my birthday and as usual she was generous to a fault.

I absolutely adore this handmade box.  (What a freaking gift to receive!!).  I really am not good at photography and the detail on this box is just perfect, the skull is superb even the inside has the same look as the outside.

Then inside were even more treasures.  I  must say though after seeing these chipboard cutouts I went and ended up spending £27 on them eek, but worth it.

How cool are these!!  I opened it up very carefully and had a look at the cards, too cool.

Gorgeous and scary pendant anyone, nope it is all mine hehe.

and last but not least I can't believe I received this card.  Probably the best card in the WORLD.  Seriously love this card.

I ordered this card below cos it just sings out to me and Chris will get it for valentines day next year just so I don't have to part with it and it can be kept in "our" memory box haha.  I also ordered more of the brain magnets cos they not only look cool but hold up my kids wonderful artwork.

I just want to say another big thank you to Glo for all of this wonderful stuff and for the amazing box which when I think about the time it must have taken you to do it is just very touching actually.

The link to Glo's etsy shop were you too could be the owner of something phenomenal is here.

Thank you.

Smudger Challenge 4 - Hearts

My daughter is obsessed with hearts, so this month the challenge is anything to do with hearts. I made a needlefelted heart with a clay face in to a brooch.

The winner of this month's challenge will receive the whole new heart collection of digis below:

I will try and get something done using one or more of these images before the month is out.

HDH140 - Vile Vintage

We are to take something vile and make it appear vintage, or maybe use something vintage that would be considered vile!  Check on over at Haunted Design House to see what vile vintage things the others have created.

I took a shoe box and covered the lid with newspaper and pva glue.  I then drew my death doctor image on tissue paper and coloured with copics and promarkers.  I did quite a few then glued them on with water and pva glue.  I then sprayed with cosmic shimmer a kind of gold one, when that was dry I used some Ranger posh metallic inks on the beak of the image and some charcoal on the background.  When this was dry I painted with ranger crackle paint then when that was dry I used one of the distress ink pads antique linen.

I know a lot for how rubbish it looks.  I just don't have the knack nor the time to experiment and get it right.  I am hoping to get some of the alcohol inks and some of the other stuff soon as I love the look of the things created with them.

Anyway let us see what vile vintage things you can create.
