HDH157 - Hammer House of Horror

This is the last challenge in Haunted Design House until the New Year!  There will of course be Wednesday's post so check back then for some more cool minions projects and from now until January I am sure there will be some creepiness.

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece

that is a tribute to Hammer Films http://www.hammerfilms.com

I chose The Witching Hour although my painting is nothing like the pic but what the hoo it looks spooky to me!

I painted it with acrylics on a canvas pad.

This is how it started out which is more of the way the shape of the face should have been but I stupidly thinned it.

Anyways you really need to go check out the minions work it is very cool.

Papelitos Stamp Nonsense

Hi guys just sharing a post with you from Jenn Blakeney Borjeson about Papelitos Stamps.  I have previously bought stamps from Papelitos them and now cannot use them as they were not her images to sell.

Please read this post as it explains about the artists that Papelitos has been stealing from etc.  Jenn and Glo have been investigating and informing these artists that their work has been stolen.

Hand Painted Fly Tying Box

My hubby isn't really in to cards so I bought a fly tying box and painted a trout that he had caught and taken a pic of on the front.

HDH156 - Nosferatu Ad nauseam

This week for Haunted Design House you are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece

that has anything to do with Vampires. Lots of vampires!
Tribute to the unholy Vampire!!
Fangs, blood, sensuality.
We want to see your interpretation of the beautiful or the deadly Vampyre.

We have a fabby sponsor this week, none other than Rick St. Dennis MFA.

Rick has a wonderfully dark line of Creepmas images and many
masterfully drawn everyday macabre images.
He also has more mainstream images available as well.

Now not only have the Minions been given some digis to work with, but
BOTH Gruesome Twosomes will win 3 digis of their choice.
I think we will be inundated with entries this week!
There is also a challenge blog called Sparkle and Glitter with Rick St. Dennis,
which features a couple of our own Minions as DT members.

I chose to use Don't Go In There.  These images are so intricate they don't even need coloured in but it was fun colouring all the same.

I recycled a matchsticks chocolate box.  Coloured the image with promarkers and copics.  I made the flower on the right and coloured that with promarkers and drew bats on then stuck some ribbon and tulle coming out of it and made the flower in the centre from paper and added red stickles for the blood.  I also made the soap using parma voilet scent and red drops to indicate blood.  Each soap has the next part of the keyring to be added to the cross keychain which is in the pic.  I added a pic of nosferatu to the bottom of the box and used black glitter glue on the edges to make it darker. I also added a shrink plastic batt ot he right hand corner on acetate to make it look like he is flying above the guy.

I tried to make his hair look as if it had shocked white with a white gel pen but I don't think it worked out too well.  I still can't get over the detail on the door, very very cool image.

This flower was a couple of the cheap ones you get in a packet and I just coloured them up and added stickles to the edge etc as described above.

Shrink plastic bat with blood drip using stickles and red perfect pearls.

NOSFERATU (how cool is he!)

Shrink plastic keychains duhhh!

The holy water one is blurry but the others turned out not too bad.

Now to be in with a chance to win one of the fab prizes from our sponsor you have to enter so get your thinking caps on and get creating.

I would also like to enter this in to the Rick St Dennis MFA Sparkle and Glitter challenge No 2 Spooky or sweet. and the not real stamps challenge for Halloween.

HDH155 - RIP

Am late posting this should have been Monday but the littlest one is poorly at the moment so it is today.

The challenge at haunted design house this week is that has anything to do with cemeteries, coffins, headstones, or funerals. Any and all things resting in peace.

I decided to use my time playing with the kids to my advantage mwahaha. We were playing lego and all had to create something and guess what the others had made. Kieran made a star wars rebel base, Alexandria made a shop, D'Arcy made a mess and well I told them it was a scene from Paranorman but just said that to make it acceptable to them lmao. Eek your Mum is a freak!

I present my lego zombie grave scene:

The skeleton bodies lying about are from lego Ninjago, the creature in the grave is Gollum, the creature with the chain on his neck is the Hulk and the fence is from my daughters lego collection the axe wielding guy is a mixture of lego minfigures.  I LOVE lego.  Think I am the only mother that does, we often get the lego down both my sons and my daughters and move the rug from the living room and create little scenes (usually not graveyard ones, more spaceships and houses etc).

Anyway let us see what you guys can come up with.  The sky is the limit!

HDH154 - Bats in the Belfry

At Haunted Design HOuse this week the challenge is to create something dark, gothic using bats. Think belfries, church steeples and all round general battiness! For this weeks project I used a Rick St Dennis image Mistress Vampyra and a bat from porkchopsow along with a charm bat attached to my handmade flower. I also got a piece of blue paper sprayed it with cosimic shimmer then covered it in glue and added blue glitter (for once I quite like the effect).

Can you bring out your general battiness?

I would also like to enter this in the Rick St Dennis challenge over at his new blog Sparkle and Glitter where the first challenge is just that and we have our own minion Teri sponsoring with her wonderful images too.

HDH153 - Creepy Cryptids

This week at Haunted Design House we have a fabby sponsor.  Cryptocurium, a shop who sells awesome sweets.  They are offering up two amazing prizes of four lollipops for the gruesome twosome.

Just click on the pic to go to the store and see the wonderful products.

What can you do to win this prize, I hear you ask?  Well you have to create something that has something to do with a creature or plant whose existence has been suggested but is unrecognized by scientific consensus and often regarded as highly unlikely! Think Loch Ness Monster, Yeti, even Faeries.

I went for a squashed Willo the Wisp, the Hairy Haggis sat on it.  I painted it with acrylics and sprayed it with cosmic shimmer.

What Cryptid will you choose?

Don't forget to check back on Wednesday at Haunted Design House for the rest of the minions work too.
