Bits and Bobs

I have been a bad blogger and even worse at commenting.  Hoping the New Year will bring a better and more ready for the world me!

Anywho, here is a few of the things I have been doing:

I made this advent calendar for the school with a little clay santa on top:

These are two paintings for Barb.  They look as if they are in a right mood with each other.

This was an other thing I did for the Mitzi challenge but forgot to post it:

These are some of the donuts for elves I made.  I added one of my pics of the completed one with the window top.  The kids loved them.  These are templates that can be added to any word processing document and printed to make your own.

I am also working on an owl that I am needle felting for my daughter for Xmas and a heart for my mum with the kid's faces on it.

Hope everyone is well and getting their craft on.

HDH #179 Macabre Monday Samhain Sunset

Things are so darn busy here that I am late posting my HDH so here we go and apologies.

Welcome to week #1 of Macabre Monday challenge,

"Samhain Sunset."

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Hallowe'en

based art piece that represents a
Samhain Sunset.

We're looking for the colors of a beautiful fall sunset.

Use them as you wish, just keep it within our guidelines.

I have started a piñata using the wonderful image I received.

Our sponsor is Aurora Wings

http://www.etsy.com/shop/AuroraWings

She has offered up a very generous prize of $15 worth of store credit
to each of our GTs this challenge.
Mitzi has beautiful artwork available in her store. She has digis,
ACEOs, original artwork, and more in her shop. Stop by and check it out.

The rest of the minions are cooking up a storm so don't forget to check their work out at Haunted Design House and their personal blogs.

I have still to finish the piñata but this is the basic:

First I coloured the image:

Then I scanned it and printed it on tissue paper to add to the piñata which I made by using a balloon and covering in tissue paper.

I am working on the top at the moment and will add some decoration to the base of it too.

Anyway get your butts on over to Haunted Design House and enter our challenge it is the last one of the year.

HDH #178 Macabre Monday Zombies and Creeps

Welcome to week #1 of Macabre Monday challenge,

"Zombies and Creeps."

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Hallowe'en

based art piece that showcases Zombies or Classic Creeps
in some way.

Our Sponsor this week is Simply B Stamps and the Minions are using the Limited Edition Zombies and Creeps digis, one of the newest of the Steampunk Collections drawn by the fabulous Abigail Larson.

I LOVE the Abigail Larson images, they are so intricate and wonderful!

I chose to use Collette.  I coloured her with a mix of cosmic shimmer inks, glimmer mist and distress inks and some watercolour pencils.  She looks a lot better coloured in person and I am really bad at photography so she doesn't look up to much in the photos but is very shimmery.  I also added some Wild Orchid Flowers and some of Glo's fabulous Brains from her etsy shop.  You can also purchase the brains as jewellery.  I have a pendant and a pair of earrings.

Get your bahookies on over to HDH to see the other minions creations and to check out the prize.

HDH177 - Tando Dimensional Halloween Challenge

Welcome to the new Macabre Monday challenge at Haunted Design HOuse which is:
"Dimensional Hallowe'en."
You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Hallowe'en based art piece that is dimensional in some way.

There are some fine prizes being offered by our generous sponsor,

Aha pop on over to Haunted Design House to see the prize on offer and to see the Minions hard work.

I used the Gothic Archway with a spiderweb.  These things are immense to paint on.  I have already ordered a few more!

The edge I used posh metallic inks and dabbed them on with a toothpick which took forever but gave a nice raised bumpy texture.

The minions as always have outdone themselves so go and have a peek.

HDH 176 - Who Are You?

Another challenge for Macabre Monday at Haunted Design House this week the challenge is to create a dark, Gothic, or Hallowe'en
based art piece that depicts a costume or
character you have been, or want to be for Hallowe'en.

Isn't there that one costume you always remember
fondly from your childhood? Or maybe that one character
you've always wished you had the guts
(or the money, or the body)
to portray at this year's costume party?

We are being sponsored by I Brake for Stamps with the fabulous images from Rick St Dennis.

I always loved vampires and wanted to be one when I was a kid (yes always been a strange one me!).  Anyway I made a bag to carry my vampire costume accessories in.  I made the bag from an old cornflake packet.

In case you come from Mars and didn't know what a cornflake packet looked like :P

I then pasted tissue paper on with a mix of PVA and water.

After that I painted it black then dry brushed some gold buff n rub stuff.  I then added my embellishments and image.  I added some 3D glaze to the image to protect it.  To the die I used the Jewel Stampendous red one.

I got a cheap plastic bat and added rub n buff to that and some liquid pearls and stickles to the belly.

I also added one of Glo's skulls from her etsy shop and added them to a charm that I got from Crafty Individuals shop.

Then the bag:

Well that's all folks. Be sure to check out the Minions.

HDH Gloomsville

It's another instalment of Macabre Monday at Haunted Design House and the challenge this time is being sponsored by the wonderful Lily at The Octopode Factory!  She has some amazing images and we were luck enough to get to use a couple.  Lily is offering up a prize for the winner which is......

I used the Pumpkins and Spider Web.

With the pumpkins I decided to make a sort of thank you card for when the kids go trick or treating.  They only went for the first time last year and hubby took them but I think it is my turn this year and I really don't relish the thought of going to peoples doors so I thought a little card for them might soften the blow.

You can't really see the glitter very well but I used a ton of stickles!

Next up I made a little treat box using coordinations cardstock for Halloween with the Spider image:

Well that's all folks. Be sure to check out the Minions.

DT Throwdown - Old and Grey

It is Glo, Mark and myself playing along with the DT Throwdown this week for Haunted Design House.  The challenge is to interpret Old and Grey any way you want.

The Smeared Ink Forum is here and their new blog for the DT Throwdown is here.

Well I decided to paint the old woman from Drag Me To Hell!  Didn't turn out like I thought it would but what can you do.  I used a background crackle stamp, and a danger stamp that was part of a poison set I bought from Crafty Individuals and then stamped the word hell.  The hell and danger were stamped on tissue paper and water/glued on.  I stamped the crackle on the actual canvas in the background.

I took a picture of a yellow button (like the one from the movie) then made a digital frame with it here and played around to make it look like red at the bottom (kinda hells flames).

The background:

Base of face:

Anyway if you get a chance to have a look on the blog we do need your votes and there are some amazing entries each time.  (Obviously if you like ours best).  We also would love other design teams to join in.

HDH174 - Nailed It

The challenge for Haunted Design House this time around is use stick pins, nails, staples, etc....

I have made a little clay devil and he has been nailed to a block of wood.  The nails each have a spell written on them to stop him from getting free.  He is a particularly evil little devil and if anyone were ever to  manage to set him free......

Remember you have two weeks to enter this challenge so plenty of time to get your thinking cap on.

Paint Party Friday

I did a little painting today so I am going to enter it into Paint Party Friday

This painting was done using acrylics.  She has a bit of a bog eye which I noticed very early on but was too lazy to fix it.  I just don't really feel creative at the moment and am having to push  myself to do anything crafty/arty!

HDH173 - Astrological Atrocities

The challenge for Haunted Design House this time around is you are to create a dark, Gothic, or Hallowe'en
based art piece that is somehow directly and obviously inspired by
the signs of the Zodiac or  Astrology.
And if you're thinking that "Astrology just isn't your thing",
check out what our awesome sponsor and fellow, gifted Minion, Teri
has to offer in her Delicious Doodles digi shop.

Personally I fall under the "just isn't my thing" category but those images are too damn cool  not to use and are so versatile.

I am the worst at cardmaking and it really bums me out when I spend ages arranging and rearranging but it still looks cack.  I see the other minions and their cards always looks spectacular.  Chris said I should forget cards and concentrate on painting or clay and I think he might be right lmao.

This is Leo and he is a Horrorscope and can be found here.

The bits you see are supposed to be Leo's rotted skin made with masking fluid and acrylic paint and an Andy Skinner technique see sidebar for link!

Below is the Serpent Bearer and he can be found here.

A simple ATC with lots of dew drops.

Below is a watercolour I did with my girls when we were having a painting day.

We hope to see you all at the challenge and even if you don't get to participate (boo hehe) you need to go and check out Teri's images they are superb.
