Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #7

I drew this little girl from the Corspe Bride, coloured her with copics and promarkers and you can't see but glittered her up with the orange peel stickles and added some pewter liquid pearls for her buttons on her dress.  She is for the Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #7 Creepy Birthday to You.

I wrote have a bone-afide good time and used tattered rose over it (I know looks pretty bad but I am still trying to get used to distressing.  The bone behind the girl was a glitter sheet that I sprayed with the slate glimmer mist and I added a little bonafide tag to the side.  The flowers are prima (I think, they came in a  lovely jar) and a wild orchid flower in the middle.

A bow tied at the bottom and a cat charm.  Shockingly bad entry, but alas again my little ones have picked up another viral infection my poor 5 year old is covered from head to toe in a rash and he couldn't swallow.  He didn't eat anything from friday afternoon until late this morning.

Anyway now that the excuses are over about how poor my cardmaking skills are hehe I am being attacked by my one year old who is needing some attention.

Haunted Design House Challenge True Blood Truebie

I really love the Haunted Design House, their challenges are always really cool.  Anyway my husband and I have watched series one and two of True Blood so I thought this was the challenge if any to try.  I love horror particularly vamps, zombies etc.

Anyway I got this stamp, marie antoinette, kraftin kimmie, last week and thought it would make a good Queen Sophie-Ann from olden days and that she was probably playing Yahtzee then before it got commercialised hehe (as if this is real).  My hubby said only I would choose such an obscure character tehe.

The flower again was made from paper flowers from poundland and inked first with tim holtz tattered rose then coloured with two pink promarkers and one red copic marker.  The middle is a brad from one of those little packs I think they are dovecraft.  I added a crown charm dropping from the cameo with red wire.  The paper is coordinations black cauldron or something.  I sqashed then sanded then distressed the edges and made a bit for the side with the martha stewart doily punch then folded it and sanded. 

The Yahtzee I printed then squashed and distressed with I think tea dye and tattered rose tim holtz distress inks. (All my stuff gets put away in the day as the kids would probably choke on something so I have the worst memory at the moment so that is why it sounds like I am unsure).   I put Sophie-Ann on the name slot.  I also printed yahtzee using free fonts website, then put what is supposed to be little drops of blood, red flat backed pearls.

I used liquid pearls on her hair and stuck down the flat backed pearls with it.  I printed out a super mini yahtzee sheet and placed it where the letter goes on the stamp.  I coloured her with a mixture of promarkers and copics and added some vampire teeth.

 Anyway I think I have bored you long enough.

Burtonesque Challenge #5

The challenge this week at the http://theburtonesquedolls.blogspot.com/ is a sleepy hollow inspired scene.  I couldn't for the life of me think of a card to make other than halloween so I decided to do a little wall hanging scene.  I didn't have much time to do it as I left it until tonight to try and after I got the housework done when the kids were in bed I only had an hour or so to cart all of my craft stuff out of the garage etc etc.

Anyway I painted the girl on the scene using the dress from the promo pics for inspiration.  Not the greatest thing I have ever done but my hands are all inky and I am really really tired and didn't have the energy to make the scenery a bit better, would have loved to put a crow and some pumpkins.  I might add them later but the challenge finishes tomorrow so......

I always feel guilty when I have to throw out cardboard boxes so I used this to paint on, crazy hmm. Anyway I am off to the land of nod, my three year old has her nusery production tomorrow and I want to be able to enjoy it without yawning through tiredness.  zzzzzzzzzz

Whiff of Joy Challenge #80

I thought since I entered the burtonesque challenge that I would try another one.  I love the Whiff of Joy stamps they are so sweet.  I always wondered what people were on about when they mentioned a sketch they had followed and now I know. 

I used the stamp sitting Willow (I think that is what she is called).  I decided not to colour her as I thought she stood out better. The cardstock used is from Nana's Nursery baby girl stack, I used a purple inkpad for the edges then used my scissors to fray the edges.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid and the lace is from ebay.  I just love when I see the distressed stuff that people do but am not really very good at it myself but will persevere.

Anyway am really enjoying entering these challenges although my house is suffering somewhat haha the kids toys are still all over the living room and the kitchen looks like a craft fairy crash landed.

The Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #4

4The whole reason I started this blog was so that I could enter some challenges and so far I have entered zero challenges.  For some strange reason I thought I would have some free time with my three year old being at nursery a few hours a couple of days a week but my one year old has taken over on the needing your every last ounce of attention or the tantrums start tehe aren't they so funny!  Anyway I love the burtonesque blog and was determined to enter at least one of the challenges so I MADE the time, holding a baby in one arm and my mod podge in the other hehe. 

Not the best picture you will ever see but I have lost my wire for my proper camera and had to use the webcam.  This is an old box of chocolates that I painted with blue/silver paint then stippled some green and blue (in the spirit of the corpse bride).  I then cut out a circle from glitter paper for the moon and added some cosmic shimmer to rub around it.  I also coloured the flowers with the same blue cosmic shimmer.  The sentiment says "You may kiss the bride"  the idea is to put maybe a sexy nightie with some lip gloss for the bride (from the groom). 

 The image I drew and coloured with copics and promarkers but the paper I used wasn't the good stuff (I can't find the proper card in amongst my craft stuff at mo).  The ink bled a little but hopefully not too much to have ruined it.  The sentiment I printed out then used distress inks to age it and blur the writing then scraped some scissors around the edges, the card backing (was from a cardstack), I did the same for this.  You can't see it but at the bottom of the bouquet there is a snake charm.

Anywho a bit long winded for what it actually is, hope it is in spirit of the corpse bride.

Shed Mural

My husband decided that the sunniest part of our garden was taken up by the shed. So we moved the shed to the other side which was always shaded and made a little area with a table and chairs (which my husband made all by his talented little self). He made a raised bed behind the table using railway sleepers and for the table and benches he used decking, sleepers and fence posts (just whatever came to hand he stated hehe). He also made the planter that is midway up willow screening. I am reallychuffed with it.

I felt a little bad as we were taking up some of the (much in need of returfing as we seem to suffer from flooding when it rains and it rains a lot) grass, so I have decided to paint a little brightness on the shed for the kids, where we took up some of their grass space. Don't worry though they still have their little picnic bench area and playhouse and slide and sand table etc hehe.

So this is the start of the mural. My 5 year old loves dragons, my three year old loves princess and pink and I will add in various flowers and I don't think you can make it out on this pic but there is a little pixie hiding with a toadstool hat among the fly agarics. There is also a fairy door and stained glass window on one of the trees. I have so much to do to it and so little time. I have a castle to paint in the background on some hills and flowers to put beside the trees, some wildlife, leaves etc etc etc. You probably all know as most of you guys will have kids but time is very limited especially when my youngest is only 15 months and needs or wants a lot of attention.

Anyway just thought I haven't posted for ages so would put up my progress on this mural and then put another one up when it is completed, probably just as my kids graduate haha.

First attempt at sculpting

Finally I am back online after practically a whole month. Well yet again another first attempt, this time sculpting with newclay. I always wanted to try sculpting and my hubby thought that I should give it a go so bought me some sculpting tools and clay.


My hubby said the chest is well let's just say wasn't very realistic looking. You would think I could get that right. I know it's not great but I am not disheartened as the more I practice I think I should improve.
